Cheap! Homemade Archery Target?
I have a target I made that works from foam. I have heard on Archerytalk.com to use carpet layered and few other things but at the price it would be cheaper to buy a target.
Please only answer this question if your in archery! ...

sportsmans has thin foam sheets stacked up real high and wide anyone know where I can get them cheap!
Not sure just what your question is, but I'll give it a go anyway...
Idea #1: Cardboard box stuffed (tightly) with cardboard. It will stop target tips from bows up to 90 lb.
Idea #2: Cardboard box stuffed with plastic bags. The bags are "grabby", and will slow down even some broadheads.
Idea #3: Burlap bag stuffed with plastic bags.
Idea #4: An old over-size pillow. Be absolutely sure your mother/wife/sister/ etc is ok with you ruining the pillow.
Idea #5: Cruise the local dumpsters outside any home-renovation project. Free carpeting, and nobody will care of you shoot it full of holes (although the heavier carpeting will stop most target tips and slow most broadheads - whether from 30 lb or 90 lb bows).
Idea #6: A firm stack of sod, with no rocks or stones in it.
Idea #7: A stack of newspapers or phone books. This kind of target can last a long time.
Idea #8: Hay bales, if you can get them In some areas they cost upwards of $4 each, and sometimes they are "loose-packed" (meaning the bale itself is loose, and the arrow will go through too easily)....make sure of the quality of the bales before you buy them. And do NOT accept bales made of green hay or alfalfa -- make sure it was baled up DRY (moisture in the bale creates heat - and heat can become fire...).
Idea #9: Put a "Judo" point or an "Ace" hex-head on the arrow and go roving. Pick a tree, a stump, a leaf on the ground, whatever; pick the targets as you walk around (but not if it is not legal to do so!) and have fun with it. Just be absolutely sure of what is behind the target, so you don't hurt or kill someone (or somebody's pet) if you miss.
There are other ideas for inexpensive, easy targets, but not enough room to list them.
