Were bows and arrows invented independently across cultures/tribes etc.?
That is, do we know/believe that the use of bows and arrows as a weapon for hunting and/or military combat were invented by a very early culture in the stone age and culturally transmitted to other peoples throughout the world, or was the mechanism invented independently various times? Or can we not really be sure?
No, its apparent that they were invented individually. Its amazing really if this is the case but it is also possible that ancient adventurers may have crossed the ocean bringing the 'new technology' to foreign continents and spreading the use of the bow world wide. if I remember correctly the earliest bow found was in the Denmark.
