Does anyone know if the torque bow in Predator would work in reality?
Towards the end of the movie Predator, Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) crafted himself a custom torque bow made of multiple limbs tied very tightly together. I know that in reality no bow could put an arrow through a three-foot thick tree, but I am just wondering if it would work as well as a recurve bow in general.
it's called a bundle bow and it does work, just not to the extent of what's shown in the movie, they're often shown in survival manuals as a quick way to make a expedient bow to gather food with, but not meant for combat, it's higher extent would be deer, but it would need ot be very close and a very accurate shot.

there are bows that would be capable of piercing through 3 feet of wood, but they're massively powerful and are mostly compound bows these days, some english yew longbows could likely do the task with a proper broadhead.
