Flamed White
How to stop reaction to white gold ring?
I have been wearing white gold for years with no problem but since I got married 6 weeks ago and started wearing a white gold wedding ring I have had a red, en-flamed and blistered ring around my finger. Does anyone know how I can get rid of it and stop it happening again (apart from getting rid of the ring which I really don't want to do!)

Many people are allergic to the other medals that are combined with gold to make strong rings. Nickle is a common cause and a higher content in your ring could be the problem. Taking it to a local Jeweler and having a coating called Rhodium or Palladium applied to the ring should help prevent the irritation. This usually needs to be applied once to twice a year. Ranging from $30 - 50 per ring (which includes a full cleaning and polishing of the ring). In the meantime, you need to leave the ring off and let your finger breath and heal. Another cause of the irritation is if the ring has a hallow space between the band and diamonds at the top where moisture and bacteria can form while the ring is being worn for days/weeks at a time. After being coated getting in the habit of taking the ring off at night would be beneficial.
