Gun Hunting
If you take away the gun aspect of hunting what else is important?
sure you have a gun , and can hit with it and know about bullets and scopes and what not to point it at..OK but what are the other important aspects of hunting?

The firearm is just the most advanced weapon we have today (in general) that carries on a tradition of independence from "others."
In learning to "hunt," you learn a lot more about the game, yourself, and how to survive without modern luxuries. Most people should hunt to feed themselves and their families, but many simple hunt to enjoy killing something. Far too many get drunk and shoot at anything that moves, including other hunters wearing blaze orange. It also allows the government a source of income, both from taxes on merchandise, to fee to use land that we can't own, and to impose punishments for violations (including stealing the weapons used for resale or personal use by "wardens."
I know that I am a freak when it comes to hunting, I don't. I owned a weapon since I was a teenage, learned to hunt, and then decided never to kill for "no reason" again. This is a personal choice, not a judgment against hunters. I know why we need to hunt. But, for a while, I was the hunted, as I'm sure others can relate to in wartime environments. It wasn't fun, and I feel that it isn't "right" to hunt when I don't need to kill for food or clothing. But, what I did learn from the deer, bear, birds, and other game helped to keep me alive, by seeing how they applied basic rules to their survival. Today, even as an old man, I can get close enough to a deer to touch him or her, and could kill with a knife if I HAD to. A rifle is too easy, and a bow is still a ranged weapon when you can get that close. To do this, you must know yourself, nature, and the game, and you don't learn this on a target range where accuracy is the only thing that counts.
In the past, our military did not stand at all times. They would go home and live, until they were needed. Hunting helped to keep them sharp, ready for war, should the need arise. If they could get close to a deer, with a muzzle loading smooth bore, they could get even closer to an invader. The Native Americans, armed with primitive bows, gave the superior US military hell until they were slaughtered in mass and shipped off to unwanted and worthless land to keep them "safe." They didn't learn how to do this in class, but in the natural classroom of life and survival.
When the US bans firearms, the people who can hunt can still survive without Uncle Sam if they have a bow, a spear, or a knife (really the most important of the team), because they can use their MINDS and skills to stay alive. The skills that the elite soldiers of the Rangers, Special Forces, Marine Recon, and Navy SEALS use came from the Native Americans before them. If you take away the fancy toys, these guys can still do more, with less, than some of the best trained with the super weapons we have today. It isn't the hardware, but the soldier.
If you look at hunting, closely, and then your high school math and geometry books, you will see that the way a rifle works follows a lot of what you can learn in school. This is the practical aspect to the theories that kids learn in school. I know because, before learning weapons, I was an F student. After learning this "crap," I became an A student who never needed to study very hard, because it was "common sense" when seen in action. This is one of the basic rules to teaching others, showing them how to use things in a meaningful way, so that it stays with them, not being forgotten as "useless."
Now, today, I don't own a firearm. I don't hunt, but still can. Unlike many others, I know that a gun is just a TOOL, nothing more. Most Americans fear those of us who can think and don't need someone telling us what to do and when, but can do it on our own. And, like many others, most of us choose to obey the laws and be "good" citizens, even though we are hated and called murderers for having served our nation. Oddly, we used firearms to defend and protect our nation, which has turned on us today and seeks to ban weapons so that they control who learns what, when, and will only follow "their ways." This is basically what happened to the Native Americans, too independent for the likes of Uncle Sam.
Learning to hunt is just a skill, but one that can improve your life in many ways. If you don't like chemically loaded meats, hunt game for safer food. If you are tight on money, then hunt for food and save that money for something that you can't do yourself. The list is endless, really, because as you become more self sufficient, you can do without fancy things that cost money, endlessly. Today, Americans lie, cheat, and steal to get money, when all they have to do is look around themselves and not "buy into" an ongoing scam because someone else can't do something themselves.
