who decides when the away team has to wear the away kit?
i was watching the newcastle game tonight on the tv, and (because i'm slightly short sighted) had a bit of difficulty differentiating between the two kits, so was just wondering really.
my first thought was the referee and his assistants, but i wasn't sure if there was a higher body who made this decision.
For pro. leagues the league administrators does and the reason is to facilitate the home team's fans. Formerly the home team was supposed to change colors if the visiting team turned up in a uniform quite similar in color to theirs, however respective leagues have amended that rule because there were occasions when the visiting team would appear to be the home team because the fans for the home had already decked out in the team colors.
For amateur leagues it all about co-operation, if both teams are unable to find alternative gears between them then the ref. should serve as the adjudicator he is and tell the visitors to find different colors. Hope I was able to clarify.
