What do the numbers mean?
Do you just play one string at a time?
Each line represents a string, the bottom line being the thick E string, and the top line being the thing e string.
The numbers are fret numbers. So a 5 on the second line from the bottom is 5th fret on the A string.
As with real notation, you read the tabs from left to right. The downside of tabs is that they sometimes don't tell you the length of each note, so you'll have to listen to the song for that.
Otherwise tabs are a quick and easy way to learn new songs.
